The employees of Merchants Insurance Group contributed almost $312,000 from 2003 through 2014 to charities, with $31,994.50 raised in 2014.

Contributions went to various non-profit groups throughout Western New York, including the foundation of Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo; Southeast Works; SABAH; Hospice Buffalo; Friends of Night People; Roswell Park Cancer Institute; Theatre of Youth; the Breast Cancer Network; the 100 Club of Buffalo; Almost Home Animal Sanctuary; WNY Heroes, Inc.; the Little Portion Friary; and St. Luke’s Mission of Mercy, among others.

The organizations the company supported were chosen through employee suggestions, and the employees raised funds through activities such as “dress-down” days, raffles and split clubs. The activities are organized and managed by Merchants’ employees through their C.I.A., or Colleagues in Action, committee.
