For the seventh consecutive year, Buffalo Business First has named Merchants Insurance Group as one of “Western New York’s Top Private Companies.”
On the 2025 list, Merchants ranked 4th out of 52 private companies.

Makey, III, President and Chief Executive Officer of Merchants Insurance Group. “I appreciate the hard work of our dedicated colleagues, the collaboration of our strong agency partnerships, and the loyalty of our valued policyholders for making this achievement possible.”
Published in the June 13th edition of the publication, this year’s results were determined based on financial data collected from 2024. Merchants had revenue of $527.4 million in 2024, an increase of 2.25% ($11.6 million) over 2023.

The annual “Top Private Companies” list is comprised of Western New York-headquartered private companies that agreed to have their financial records reviewed by certified public accountants (CPAs) at Dopkins and Company LLP.
