Buffalo, N.Y., September 25, 2020 – Robert Zak, Merchants Insurance Group President and CEO, was named as the new chair of the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC) Board of Directors. The announcement was made during NAMIC’s all-virtual 125th Annual Convention on September 23, 2020.
Mr. Zak, who is retiring from Merchants in 2021, has more than 35 years of experience in the mutual insurance industry.
For the next year, Mr. Zak will serve as a leading spokesperson for NAMIC in meetings with legislators, regulators, and other industry representatives. He will also meet in person or virtually (as appropriate during the pandemic) with mutual insurance industry professionals and NAMIC members during several state association meetings and conventions.
Mr. Zak commented, “It is a privilege to have the opportunity to serve an industry and an association that has been so good to me and to Merchants. I look forward to working with NAMIC members and staff around the country to advance the interests of the mutual insurance industry and its policyholders.”
