Hosted at Buffalo’s Outer Harbor, the walk brought together over 1,700 participants and nearly 300 teams to raise awareness and vital funds in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease.
The Buffalo event is part of a national movement, with more than 600 Walk to End Alzheimer’s events taking place annually across the country, making it the largest fundraising event for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research in the world.
Merchants has sponsored the Alzheimer’s Association’s Buffalo and Erie County Walk to End Alzheimer’s since 2017.
“We’re honored to continue supporting the Alzheimer’s Association and the incredible work it does for individuals and families affected by Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia,” said Charles E. Makey, III, President and Chief Executive Officer of Merchants Insurance Group. “Each year, our colleagues show up with compassion and commitment, walking in honor of loved ones and supporting the mission to end Alzheimer’s.”
A special thank you to Michael Alessandra, Assistant Vice President – Internal Audit, for once again coordinating Merchants’ sponsorship and team participation. Alessandra also serves on the Board of Directors for the Alzheimer’s Association of Western New York.
