Merchants Insurance Group is proud to announce that Charles Makey III, Senior Vice President of Insurance Operations, has been elected to the board of directors for the New York Insurance Association.

Mr. Makey, who has been with Merchants since 1996, has served in various positions with Merchants, including Director of Sales; Assistant Vice President and Regional Manager for the company’s New England Regional Office; and Vice President and Regional Manager for Merchants Central States Strategic Business Center in Dublin, Ohio, before his promotion to Senior Vice President of Insurance Operations.

Mr. Makey has an MBA from Daniel Webster College, a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from St. Bonaventure University, and also holds the following designations from the Insurance Institute of America: Associate in Insurance Services (AIS), Associate in Management (AIM), and INS (General Insurance).

The mission of the New York Insurance Association is to influence the legislative and regulatory environment to promote an insurance market that is viable and strong in order to better serve the insuring public of New York.
