Frank Simpson Named Regional Vice President of Merchants’ Western Strategic Business Center
Frank Simpson has been promoted to Regional Vice President of Merchants Insurance Group’s Western Strategic Business Center (WSBC) in Buffalo, New York, effective March 24, 2025.
“I am pleased to have Frank Simpson take the reins of our Western Strategic Business Center,” said Charles E. Makey, III, President and Chief Executive Officer of Merchants Insurance Group. “Frank has been an asset to our Merchants team since joining the company in 2019, and I look forward to seeing him thrive in his new role.”
Mr. Simpson will replace Greg Robinson, who retires on March 31, 2025.
“Congratulations to Frank on his well-deserved promotion,” said Mike Wolfe, Senior Vice President, Regional Operations. “I am confident Frank has the experience and knowledge to successfully and smoothly succeed Greg Robinson as our WSBC Regional Vice President.”
Mr. Simpson has over 14 years of industry experience and joined Merchants in 2019 as a Territory Manager for Central New York. In his first year with Merchants, his territory experienced a 71% growth in written premium and 25% overall growth in Commercial Lines, and his pattern of growth and profit has continued each year to follow. In 2023, Mr. Simpson was promoted to Senior Territory Manager and added Ohio to his territory, leading to a 5.8% growth in the state.
In March 2025, Frank Simpson was named the recipient of Merchants Insurance Group’s 2024 President’s Award, an annual distinction which honors one colleague each year for their contributions and commitment to the company and its core values of integrity, respect, loyalty, teamwork, and the aspiration to improve. His nomination cited his determination, creativity, and commitment to helping colleagues and independent agent partners succeed.

As Regional Vice President, Mr. Simpson will manage the company’s Western Strategic Business Center, overseeing regional operations such as underwriting, sales, and agency management. Located in Buffalo, New York, Merchants’ Western Strategic Business Center serves Upstate and Western New York, Western Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Michigan.

Mr. Simpson earned his Bachelor of Science in Marketing Management from Bellevue University in Bellevue, Nebraska and his Associate in Business Administration from Herkimer County Community College in Herkimer, New York. In his spare time, he runs a small business selling rare reptiles. He currently resides in Central New York.
