Merchants’ United Way Committee Hosts Annual Bills “Tailgate” Fundraiser
October 17th marked the return of a favorite event at Merchants Insurance Group’s corporate headquarters: the United Way Bills Tailgate Lunch!
Following a Monday night win against the Jets and just ahead of a match-up against the Titans, corporate colleagues were ready to show their team spirit as they gathered for a “tailgate” lunch and other Bills-themed fun, all to benefit this year’s United Way campaign.
Lunch
In the spirit of a tailgate experience, colleagues enjoyed lunch off the grill!
The United Way committee sold hot dogs, veggie burgers, turkey burgers, snacks, water, and soda, and all proceeds went toward the campaign.
Raffles
There were several chances for Merchants’ Bills fans to win big!
Raffles at this year’s “Tailgate” included:
- Football squares for the Bills vs. Titans game on Sunday, October 20
- A 50/50 raffle
- A signed Keon Coleman jersey
- A Josh Allen jersey
- Tickets to the Bills vs. 49ers game on December 1, 2024
- A collection of prizes such as Bills memorabilia, tailgate essentials, lawn games, Buffalo Sabres tickets, and more!
Team Spirit
Merchants colleagues love a little friendly competition. All attendees were encouraged to wear their Bills gear – and the best dressed Bills fans, Patty Mazone and Lindsey Miller, won Amazon gift cards!
The breakroom was full of blue, white, and red as colleagues came decked out in their Bills best.

Colleagues snapped photos at the Bills-themed photo booth, complete with props and a cardboard Josh Allen!

After beating the Jets 23-20 days prior to Merchants’ “Tailgate,” the Bills then defeated the Titans 34-10 on Sunday, October 20th!
Merchants’ Support of United Way
Merchants Insurance Group is proud to support the United Way and the incredible work this organization does in our local communities. Each fall, Merchants colleagues generously elect to contribute to the United Way through year-round e-pledges and fundraising efforts such as the Bills Tailgate lunch and other events at our corporate office.
