Karen Dean, CPCU, Senior Staff Underwriter, Merchants Insurance Group, has been named secretary for the Buffalo chapter of the Society of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters (CPCU).

Ms. Dean, who has been with Merchants for almost 15 years, has served as a product
specialist before her promotion to Senior Staff underwriter. Prior to joining Merchants,
she worked mostly in commercial lines insurance, both with carriers and insurance
agencies.

In addition to the CPCU designation, she holds the Associate in Underwriting (AU)
and Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designations.Ms. Dean has been a member of the Buffalo CPCU Chapter since 2014 and has been

Ms. Dean has been a member of the Buffalo CPCU Chapter since 2014 and has been involved with the Candidate Development committee. As the chapter’s secretary, she will keep meeting minutes and perform general duties assigned by the Leadership Council. The Society of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters is a national organization with local chapters throughout the country. The Society consists of credentialed property and casualty insurance professionals who promote excellence through ethical behavior and continuing education.

Ms. Dean resides in Clarence with her family.
