Merchants Insurance Group welcomes Joseph Meyer, new Senior Vice President (SVP) of Underwriting, Product Management, and Corporate Programs

His first full week in the role began on Monday, July 18, 2022.

“Joe brings a wealth of leadership experience to our Underwriting and Product Management team and to our company,” said Charles Makey, Merchants Insurance Group President. “I am confident he will have a positive impact with our agents, colleagues, and policyholders.”

Previously, Joe was the Senior Product and Strategy Manager at Paychex.

Joe brings two decades of insurance industry expertise to his leadership role at Merchants, including previous experience working for a regional carrier, a national carrier, a direct writer, and an independent agent. Before his position at Paychex, he was the President and Chief Operating Officer of Founders Insurance Company, part of Utica National Insurance Company.

“As a Buffalo native and a lifelong Western New Yorker, it means a lot to me to join a company so committed to our community,” said Merchants’ new SVP, Joseph Meyer. “I look forward to working with all of my fellow Merchants teammates to serve our agents and policyholders!”

Joe earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management, with a minor in Organizational and Occupational Behavior, from the State University of New York at Geneseo. He currently lives in Rochester, N.Y. with his wife and four children.
