Merchants Named Among “Western New York’s Top Private Companies” for Eighth Consecutive Year

Merchants Recognized Among “Western New York’s Top Private Companies” for Eighth Consecutive Year

For the eighth consecutive year, Buffalo Business First has named Merchants Insurance Group as one of “Western New York’s Top Private Companies.”

In 2026, Merchants ranked 10th out of 50 top private companies in the print edition of the list and 10th of 187 local companies overall on the digital version.

“We’re proud to have earned this recognition for the eighth consecutive year,” said Charles E. Makey, III, President and Chief Executive Officer of Merchants Insurance Group. “Our continued designation as one of the region’s ‘Top Private Companies’ is a direct reflection of our dedicated colleagues, loyal policyholders, and strong independent agent partnerships.”

Published on Friday, September 11th, this year’s results were determined based on financial data collected from 2025, in which Merchants reported companywide revenue of $513 million.
