The results are in from Merchants’ colleague and company donations to Sunnking’s annual e-Scrap for Camp electronics recycling event!
Merchants Insurance Group once again participated in Sunnking’s e-Scrap for Camp event, collecting over 1,948 pounds of electronics to recycle. With Merchants’ contribution, as well as numerous other businesses throughout Buffalo and Rochester, Sunnking donated $12,696.63 to Camp Good Days this year!
Through their annual e-Scrap for Camp event, Sunnking, an environmentally-friendly electronics recycling company, encourages local businesses to recycle old or unused electronics over a two-week period. Sunnking then donates all funds raised throughout this initiative to Camp Good Days, a not-for-profit organization providing summer camps, adult retreats, and other activities for children, adults, and families affected by cancer.
Sunnking started e-Scrap for Camp in 2010 in an effort to support such an incredible organization with an invaluable cause and to encourage businesses to recycle electronics in an environmentally friendly and responsible way. In the event’s history prior to 2022, western and central New York businesses recycled over 5.5 million pounds of electronics — which raised over $128,000 for Camp Good Days!
In addition to company electronics, Merchants colleagues were invited to bring electronics they wished to recycle to our corporate office’s Colleague Appreciation Ice Cream Social in June. Merchants’ participation in this event was coordinated by Jason Gallo, Enterprise Technology Services & Security Manager.

About Camp Good Days
Camp Good Days and Special Times, Inc., a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization, is dedicated to improving the quality of life for children, adults and families whose lives have been touched by cancer through summer camping experiences and year-round events and activities. Camp Good Days was founded 42 years ago by Gary Mervis to provide a residential camping program for his daughter, Teddi Mervis, and 62 other children with cancer from Upstate New York. It has since grown to become one of the largest organizations of its kind in the world. Camp Good Days was the fourth program of its kind in the country and the first to be started by a layperson. Many of the programs and services started at Camp Good Days have been used as models for cancer treatment centers and organizations throughout the United States and Canada.
