Merchants Mutual Insurance Company has named John M. Foehl Jr. to its Board of Directors.
Mr. Foehl recently retired from Government Entities Mutual Inc., a mutual reinsurance company, having served as its president and CEO. Prior to that, he served in various positions in the financial services industry, including as Vice President for Prudential Investment Management; Vice President of Summit Strategies/ Principal of LPM Financial Advisors; and a Senior Management Consultant at Tillinghast-Towers Perrin. His expertise is in the areas of facilitation, investment portfolio management, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance.
He continues to serve as a Cell Commissioner for Amerind, a Native-American owned and operated insurance company located in Albuquerque, N.M. In addition, he is active in Captive.com, a company dedicated to the alternative insurance markets, which he co-founded in 1995 and later sold to the International Risk Management Institute of Dallas, Texas.
Mr. Foehl holds a B.S. degree from Union College, an MBA degree in finance and accounting from the University of Hartford, and a graduate degree in banking from the University of Wisconsin. He resides in Cheshire, Conn., with his wife, Linda.
