Corporate Colleague Outing at New York Beer Project
On Wednesday, September 11, 2024, Merchants Insurance Group welcomed corporate colleagues to the New York Beer Project Lodge in Orchard Park, New York, for the company’s annual Colleague Outing.
Each year, Merchants’ corporate headquarters hosts a series of Colleague Appreciation events throughout the summer, concluding in September with the largest annual event: the Colleague Outing. This event includes dinner and entertainment at a location around Buffalo, New York, and provides the perfect opportunity to celebrate our colleagues’ hard work, strengthen our bonds outside of the office, and head into the final quarter of the year!
This year, corporate colleagues ventured to New York Beer Project Lodge in Orchard Park, New York, for the grand finale of Colleague Appreciation events. Colleagues mingled, enjoying a selection of hors d’oeuvres and even a signature cocktail, the Merchants Mule, while a slideshow played of memories at Merchants events over the last year.
Dinner included salad and colleagues’ choice of a chicken, steak, fish, or vegetarian entrée, followed by platters of cookies and brownies for dessert.

Charles Makey, the company’s President and Chief Executive Officer, expressed his gratitude and led the group in rounds of applause for those who traveled to join us for the Colleague Outing, including Scott Behrent, Vice President, National Distribution; Rich Chichester, Regional Vice President, Midlantic Regional Office (MRO); Kevin Lasante, Regional Vice President, New England Regional Office (NERO); and Joe Swiderski, Regional Vice President, Eastern Strategic Business Center (ESBC), as well as Greg Robinson, Regional Vice President, Western Strategic Business Center (WSBC).
All colleagues in attendance were entered into a gift card giveaway! Charles Makey raffled off a selection of gift cards to 25 lucky winners.
When Kyra-Jade Lewis, Merchants’ Video Production Strategist, won a prize, Charlie took the camera to snap her photo!
In addition to the Colleague Outing at the NYBP Lodge, this summer’s Colleague Appreciation events included breakfast in the breakroom in June, a barbecue lunch catered by BW’s BBQ in July, and a Colleague Social at Other Half Brewing in August.
