Merchants Insurance Group is pleased to announce that Christine Schmitt, CPA, CGMA, has joined the company as Vice President – Finance in anticipation of succeeding Tom Meyers, Merchants’ Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO), who will retire at the end of March 2019.
Ms. Schmitt has extensive financial, operating and corporate board experience in the property and casualty and life insurance industries, most recently serving as CFO for an international property and casualty company.
She has served in a variety of other financial leadership roles for national and regional mutual and public insurance holding companies throughout the United States, including tenure as treasurer, chief financial officer, and board member, in addition to “Big-Four” public accounting experience.
Ms. Schmitt has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a major in Accounting from Wayne State University. She is a Certified Public Accountant and holds the Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) credential.
