Patrick Carr Joins Merchants’ Senior Leadership Team

 

Patrick Carr, VP - Finance/Controller at Merchants Insurance GroupMerchants Insurance Group has named Patrick Carr, CPA, as Vice President – Finance/Controller at the company’s corporate headquarters in Buffalo, New York.

“Patrick joins us with a breadth of experience in the Property Casualty insurance industry, including financial management, accounting, reinsurance, budgeting, performance benchmarking, and board and regulatory environment experience,” said Christine Schmitt, Merchants Insurance Group Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.

Prior to Merchants, Patrick Carr was CFO and Treasurer at Genesee Patrons Cooperative Insurance Company in Batavia, New York. The SUNY Brockport alumnus is a Certified Public Accountant and is pursuing the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriting designation. Currently, he is a board member of GLOW YMCA, serving on the organization’s Audit and Finance committees. Patrick Carr is also a 2022 Leadership Genesee graduate and is secretary of the Byron Town Planning Board in Byron, New York.

In addition to his career and community involvement, Patrick Carr enjoys time spent outdoors and has even completed the Buffalo Marathon! Each year, he participates in several bass fishing tournaments throughout New York State. He’s also an avid golfer and member of Stafford County Country Club.
